  • The area was gripped by the gas crisis in February of 1974. In top photo, area firefighters and police search a home on Hemlock Road in Ephrata which had illegally stored 334 gallons of gasoline. In bottom photo was one of the gas ration stickers placed on cars, which indicated whether a driver could buy gas on an odd- or even-numbered day during the week. (Review file photos)
