A-town Community Days May 23-25
Adamstown Community Days will take place over Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25.
All events – food, games, live entertainment, carnival rides and fireworks – will take place at Adamstown’s community grove, adjacent to the community swimming pool on West Main Street in the borough.
There is no charge for parking, no admission fee, and even the professional entertainment is free. All entertainment will take place under the big tent. Just bring your chairs and settle down to enjoy the shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
There is no charge for the entertainment, but preferred up-front seating for each of the three main shows is available – and ACD will even supply the chairs. The charge is $10 per person per show, and seats can be reserved by calling Joe at 484-256-0851.
All types of food will be available every day at the many food stands throughout the grounds, with a complete reasonably-priced dinner served every day by a local organization at the newly-renovated pavilion. Meals can be eaten at tables and benches next to the pavilion.
Activities will begin Friday evening at 5 p.m. with a pig roast dinner served by the Adamstown Community Days committee. The carnival rides will be running and Cocalico Cruisers Car Club will have their classic cars on display at the ball field above the grove.
For the first time at ACD, “The Original Bill Haley’s Comets” will appear to entertain the crowd, beginning at 7:30. Saturday events will begin at 2 p.m., when wrist bands for unlimited rides until 5 p.m. can be purchased for $18.
Sneakers the Clown will be on stage at 3 o’clock and Josh Levengood will follow with his karaoke machine at 4:30. “Lights Out,” a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute band, will take the stage at 8 p.m. for a fantastic 90-minute show.
Sunday will begin with a community worship service held under the tent, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Several local churches will sponsor the non-denominational service. The carnival events will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, with $18 wristbands available from 2 until 5 p.m.
The always-popular Flamin’ Dick & The Hot Rods will return to perform at 7 p.m. The tent is always packed to over flowing when the local oldies band starts playing everyone’s favorites from the 50’s and 60’s. People have learned that Adamstown has the best fireworks and 2014 will be no exception.
D & M Fireworks will present a 10,000 display beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday night. The rain date for fireworks is Monday at 9 p.m. For a complete schedule and updated information, check the ACD website at www.adamstowncommunitydays.com. Cards listing each day’s activities are available at many local businesses.
