East Cocalico Republican Party endorses candidate

On Jan. 21, eight members of the East Cocalico Republican Party, after careful consideration, unanimously endorsed a new candidate for East Cocalico supervisor.

Barry Weaver, chairman, said of first importance was the committee’s recognition of Doug Mackley’s long and faithful service to the township. After serving as a member of the township’s Water and Sewer Authority, Mackley was elected township supervisor.
“Mackley’s 24 years of service is equaled by few. Many times this service meant sacrificing personal time and family time to carry out his duties. He has served with fidelity and dedication, managing growth in changing times,” said Weaver.

The Republican Committee felt it prudent at this time to recognize another community member who has stepped forward to serve — Jeffrey W. Mitchell.

Mitchell and his family have lived in the area since 1974. For most of his adult life, Mitchell has acquired and honed the many skills needed to run a successful agricultural business. A special interest of his is successful environmental protection control. He demonstrates the attributes of interpersonal skills, business acumen, fiscal responsibility, conservative and family values.
An appointed zoning hearing board member for many years, Mitchell also is a regular attendee at all township supervisor meetings.

The Republican Committee believes Mitchell will be a good fit and compliment to the Board of Supervisors. They look forward to supporting Mitchell at the May 21 primary for the position of township supervisor.

Although not endorsed, Mackley could still run for reelection.
