Ex-employee charged in $4,000 burglary at Adamstown antique mall
A former employee has been charged in a burglary earlier this month at Stoudts Black Angus Antiques Mall in Adamstown.
Ryan Lee Ruth, 28, Schaefferstown, is accused of stealing $4,000 worth of jewelry, coins and antiques from vendors on Jan. 3, Ephrata police said Jan. 19.
Authorities said Ruth was identified as a suspect after a maintenance employee found him in the closed mall, at 2800 N. Reading Road, on Jan. 14. Police used surveillance video from the burglary to confirm Ruth as the perpetrator.
Ruth used keys that he either failed to return or copied to gain access to the business, according to police.
Investigators said they are still working to identify an accomplice in the burglary.
Ruth is scheduled to be arraigned on burglary and theft charges Jan. 20 by District Judge Nancy Hamill.
He has been behind bars at Lancaster County Prison since Jan. 15 on a charge of criminal trespass for being in the closed mall. His bail for that offense was set at $15,000, court papers show.
