Gala marks another year of dog rescue
Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue (DVGRR) will hold its 11th annual Golden Gala on June 10 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square. The 2012 Gala will be a "Red Carpet" tribute to the donors and supporters who make the rescue of the dogs possible. It will feature fabulous silent and live auction items, raffles, entertainment and delicious gourmet fare.
Guests may bid on weeklong vacations in beach homes in Ocean City, N.J., or Bethany Beach, Del.; spend New Year’s Eve welcoming 2013 in a luxury condo in Sedona, Ariz.; or plan a ski vacation in Park City, Utah. Other silent and live auction items include four club box tickets to Neil Dimond’s upcoming concert in Philadelphia, original artwork, autographed sports memorabilia, fine dining opportunities, unique jewelry, hard-to-find wines and a hot air balloon ride across scenic Lancaster County.
Golden Gala’s special honorary chairman this year is meteorologist Carol Erickson of CBS 3 Philadelphia, a passionate advocate for family pets and other animals. Mingling with the crowd will be some of DVGRR’s current four-legged residents as well as "graduates" who have already been adopted. Guests will enjoy the musical stylings of Brad Weisman and Reminense and be amazed by magician Richard Benninghoff.
Visitors will learn about Project Home Life, a nationally recognized program that helps breeder and abused or neglected dogs adapt to human contact and normal household sights and sounds. This is achieved through interaction with Compassionate Caregivers, DVGRR volunteers who patiently help to socialize shy and frightened dogs so that they can become adoptable and find their forever homes. The surprise presentation of the Golden Spirit Award to a DVGRR volunteer will be another highlight of the event. The award is given to an individual who serves as a role model for others and makes a lifetime of difference to the dogs around him or her.
Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization which provides new beginnings for displaced Golden Retrievers. Net proceeds raised at the Golden Gala will help provide veterinary care for the dogs and support the operations of Golden Gateway.
Reservations for Golden Gala 2012 can be purchased for $115 per person which includes a partial tax deductible donation. Persons who are unable to attend, but would like to support DVGRR, may send donations. Information about and reservation forms for the June 10 event are available at dvgrr.org or by calling 484-4799.
