Got drugs? East Cocalico Police will collect them April 30

East Cocalico Police Department, 100 Hill Road, will collect unused and outdated drugs on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Citizens are encouraged to use this safe, proper disposal method for unused and outdated prescription, controlled, and non-controlled drugs. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

No sharpies and syringes can be accepted due to potential blood-borne pathogen hazards. Liquids and creams in their containers are accepted.

Getting unused and out-of-date drugs out of the home prevents them falling into the hands of children or others who might be drug abusers.

Proper disposal also prevents contamination of soil and ground water which can occur when people throw out or flush away drugs.

The drug collection box must be manned at all times by a police officer.

When the day’s program is completed, the box is sealed and delivered to a Drug Enforcement Agency check-point.

The Easy Cocalico Police Department encourages everyone to do his or her part to safely dispose of unused and old bottles of pills in closets and drawers.

Last September Americans turned in over 702,000 pounds of prescription drugs at more than 5,000 DEA collection sites in this cooperative program of police and communities working together.
