Police log: East Cocalico coverage area

The East Cocalico Police Department reported the following:

DUI: Emmett S. Hanna, 45, of the first block of North Reamstown Road, Reamstown, was charged with three counts of driving under the influence and a traffic summary after being stopped in the first block of South Reamstown Road in East Cocalico Township at 10:20 p.m. Jan. 30. Hanna was stopped for a traffic violation and officers determined he was impaired. A blood test indicated that Hanna had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.102 percent. There was also a high level of Benzoylecgonine, which is a metabolite of cocaine, in his blood at the time of the test.

CRASH: Police were called to North Third Street at Monroe Street, Denver Borough, at 7:36 p.m. March 1. A vehicle was westbound on Monroe Street and turned left onto North 3rd Street. The vehicle struck a legally parked vehicle. The striking vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

CRASH: Police were called to West Swartzville Road at Holtzman Road, East Cocalico Township, at 5:34 p.m. March 4. A vehicle traveling southbound failed to notice stopped traffic for a vehicle turning left. The vehicle rear ended a second vehicle, which in turn rear-ended a third vehicle. The first two vehicles were towed from the scene. The driver of the second vehicle complained of head pain but signed off with EMS.

CRASH: Police were called to the 2500 block of North Reading Road at 8:14 p.m. March 5. Two vehicles were traveling south and one of the vehicles stopped to turn left. The second vehicle failed to observe this action and rear ended the first vehicle. Both vehicles were towed. One driver was evaluated on scene for a hand injury and signed off with EMS.

CRASH: Police were called to Fourth and Main Street, Denver Borough, at 3:41 p.m. March 8. A tractor and trailer attempted to make a right turn from Main Street onto South Fourth Street. The trailer struck the bell balusters, which rendered the vehicle inoperable, blocking the intersection. Traffic was diverted for approximately 1 ½ hours. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Charges are pending.
