Rescue group hosts events

Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue is kicking off the summer season with a variety of events, designed to bring the community together for a good cause.

A fun-filled night out for women and their furry canine friends, a 5K Race/Walk and a golf outing are all on the agenda this month to benefit the group, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to new beginnings for displaced Golden Retrievers.

? A new monthly summer event is Golden Girls Night Out. On June 18, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. dogs and their owners are invited to the Reinholds facility. For a $10 donation, grooming demonstrations, raffles, light fare and snacks will be offered. Future Golden Girls Night Out events will be held on July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 24.

? Golfers can join DVGRR June 25 for Change a Golden’s Life Scramble golf outing at Foxchase Golf Club, 300 Stevens Road in Stevens. An afternoon of fun will benefit the many wonderful dogs cared for by DVGRR The golf outing begins at 1 p.m. with a shot gun start. Register at Options include a $100 charge per person or $380 for a foursome.

? Grab your running shoes for the First Annual 5K Race/Walk to benefit DVGRR June 26. The event will take place on a flat section of the well-maintained Lebanon Valley Rails to Trails. Registration begins at noon and the race will begin at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers. If walking is more your speed, enjoy a one mile jaunt with your best friend. Dogs must be current on vaccinations and be on leashes no longer than five feet. Registration fees are: $25 before June 19 or $30 on the day of the race for the 5K race, and $10 before June 19 or $15 after for the walk.
