The following local students have been awarded scholarships to attend Alvernia University this fall: Courtney Huber, of Denver, has been granted the Trustees’ Scholarship to study nursing at Alvernia University. Huber is a senior at Garden Spot High School.

Alec Lechlitner, Denver, has been granted the Veronica Founder’s Scholarship to study occupational therapy at Alvernia University. Lechlitner is a senior at Ephrata High School.

Brett Rissmiller, Stevens, has been granted the Veronica Founder’s Scholarship to study nursing at Alvernia University. Rissmiller is a senior at Cocalico High School.

Courtney Roseberry, Denver, has been granted the Veronica Founder’s Scholarship to study forensic science at Alvernia University. Roseberry is a senior at Cocalico Senior High School.

Alec Sensenig, Stevens, has been granted the Veronica Founder’s Scholarship to study at Alvernia University. Sensenig is a senior at Cocalico High School.

Ryan Seymour, Denver, has been granted the Veronica Founder’s Scholarship to study criminal justice at Alvernia University. Seymour is a senior at Cocalico High School.

Dalton Zerkowski, Denver, has been granted the Trustees’ Scholarship to study athletic training at Alvernia University. Zerkowski is a senior at Cocalico Senior High School.

Marc Maurizi, from Stevens, earned a bachelor of science in chemical engineering,

Cara Lyons, from New Holland, earned a master of science in civil engineering.

Casandra Marie Aminto, Reinholds, received a Sutton Scholarship with Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of Angela and David Montague. She will graduate from Cocalico High School in June and attend IUP in the fall as a communications media major. She serves as co-editor of the yearbook and is president of her high school’s chapter of Amnesty International. She also participates in marching band, jazz band, symphonic band, pep band, theater and mock trials.

Melisa Keinard, Reinholds, majoring in political science at Alvernia, was named a member of the university’s Adventure Club in spring 2013. Keinard is a graduate of Berks Catholic High School.

Gauying Kha, Denver, majoring in nursing at Alvernia, was named class officer of the university’s Alvernia Student Nurses Association in spring 2013. Kha is a graduate of Garden Spot High School.

Caitlin Miller, Stevens, majoring in communication at Alvernia, was named a member of the university’s Alvernia University Theatre Club in fall 2012. Miller is a graduate of Cocalico High School.

Amy Doutrich, Denver, majoring in non degree at Alvernia, was named a member of the university’s Society for Human Resource Management in fall 2012. Doutrich is a graduate of Cocalico High School.

Tru Yang, Stevens, majoring in accounting at Alvernia, was named a member of the university’s Society for Human Resource Management in spring 2013. Yang is a graduate of Springfield High School of Science and Technology.
