Stevens man charged with sexually assaulting young girl

ER20160803_POLPhilip S. GroA Stevens man has been charged with multiple offenses related to the alleged sexual assault of a young girl.

Philip S. Groff, 43, was charged July 28 with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors. He surrendered to authorities and was released on $20,000 unsecured bail, court papers show.

Groff is accused of abusing a girl beginning in 2004 when she was 2 years old and continuing until at least 2009, officials said. The alleged assaults occurred at his home on Oak Lane.

Authorities said the girl recently recalled the abuse which was reported to police by social services.

Groff admitted to the allegations, according to the district attorney’s office.

Charges were filed by East Cocalico Township Detective Keith Neff and approved by Lancaster County Assistant District Attorney Christopher Sarno.
