Rainy Day Fun: “Candy Clay” is just one name given to this edible material. Easy to create, a blast to play with and completely edible, one recipe makes a lot of fun for all ages. If desired, you can easily use this to accessorize Easter eggs and Easter bunnies!
14 ounces of white Wilbur Confectionery Coating wafers
1/3 cup of light corn syrup
*Powdered food coloring (optional)
Place the confectionery coating wafers in a plastic bowl and place in the microwave for 30 seconds on the “defrost” setting. Remove and stir. Put back in the microwave on the “defrost” setting for 30 seconds, remove and stir. Continue this sequence until the wafers are just to the melted point. Add the corn syrup and stir until thoroughly combined. Drop the mixture onto a baking sheet covered with wax paper or parchment paper. Spread it out flat, then cover it so it is airtight and let it sit on the counter for a half hour, then you are ready to work with it. At first it will be quite hard but the heat of your hands will quickly bring it to a pliable working point. If preferred, you can add powdered coloring for even more fun. Shape as you would with regular clay. If the candy clay becomes too hard, simply place it in the microwave on the defrost setting for just a few seconds. If it becomes too gooey, place it in the refrigerator for a few moments. Go on now–get creative!
