Servant Stage Company will present “The Civil War,” on May 28, in the Lititz Springs Park bandshell. The free performances will be staged at 2:30 and 6 p.m.

Drawing on letters, diaries, first-hand accounts and the words of Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and Walt Whitman, “The Civil War” is a thrilling and awe-inspiring dramatic theatrical concert that puts a human face on one of the greatest tragedies of American history and explores the experiences of the soldiers and leaders who fought for their way of life. It also examines the lives of the lovers and families they left behind, as well as the hopes and fears of the slaves whose freedom was at stake.

The production is Servant Stage’s largest production to date, featuring a cast of 28 performers led by Servant Stage Company Artistic Director Wally Calderon.

“Because ‘The Civil War’ is such an epic musical with so many challenging demands, it’s not often you get a chance to see it produced,” says Calderon. “But it is an incredible show with beautiful music and a powerful story so we are honored to be able to bring this production to Lancaster County with such a talented cast.”

“The vocals are stunning and the story will hit the heart hard,” says cast member Lindsey Aeriel Grimble. “To bring performers together from all over Lancaster County to tell this incredible story is powerful.”
