Music from such composers as Richard Wagner, Victor Herbert and Richard Rodgers will be among the selections that the Ephrata Concert Band will play July 14 at 7:15 p.m.

Martin Hinkley will conduct the band for its fifth Sunday evening concert of the six-concert summer season. Weather permitting, the concert will take place at the band shell at the foot of Cocalico Street in Ephrata Borough’s beautiful Grater Park.

The first half of the July 14 program will include Peter Buys’ “Horizon Overture,” Henry Fillmore’s march “Men of Ohio,” Wagner’s “Dance of the Apprentices” from the opera Die Meistersinger, the waltz “Waves of the Danube,” the novelty tune “Fire House Special;” a selection from Herbert’s operetta “Babes in Toyland,” and the march “Lady Liberty.”

Refreshments will be for sale at intermission.

The band will open the second half of its program with John Philip Sousa’s march “El Capitan,” followed by Alexandre Luigini’s “Ballet Egyptian,” and then “People Will Say We’re in Love” from the Rodgers and Hammerstein score for Oklahoma. The band will also play the march “On the Mall,” the “No. 9 Polka Medley,” the hymn “Holy, Holy, Holly,” and the John Philip Sousa march, “High School Cadets.”

Admission is free. Donations to the band will be accepted. Bring folding chairs. In the event of extreme weather, the concert will be moved a few blocks away, inside the Ephrata Recreation Center at 130 S. Academy Drive.
