Eicher House sets annual art show

By on November 4, 2015

The annual Eicher Art Show in Ephrata on Nov. 20 and 21 will feature the works of some of Lancaster County’s outstanding painters and other visual artists. This year the show will add photographers to its roster of creative participants.

The public will be able to enjoy the artworks on display and talk to the artists about their works on Nov. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m., and Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Eicher House, 409 Cocalico St., in Ephrata borough’s Grater Park.

Gary Greene of Ephrata is both organizing the show on behalf of the center and participating in it. As a plein air painter, Greene draws inspiration from working outdoors, painting scenes from nature. He will have watercolor landscapes and seascapes on display.

Photographers who will be displaying works in the show include Ken Kowland and Richard Lawrence.

Lawrence, of Lancaster, began his photography and painting in part as therapy for post traumatic stress disorder following his military service during the Vietnam War. He was at Grater Park for much of the spring of 2015, taking pictures of the owls that had taken residence in a tree across Cocalico Creek, and photos of that owl family will be among his works on display at the Eicher show.

Among the other participating artists will be: Lillie Fernback of Lititz, with floral and landscape watercolors and photography; Stephen Leed of Lititz, who uses oils to paint birds and other wildlife; Irene Miller of Lititz, a watercolorist who creates landscape images of lighthouses, beach scenes and Lancaster County farms; David Moore of Leola, who infuses his faith into his watercolor illustrations; Bill Puglisi of Ephrata, displaying impressionistic landscapes in pastels; David Nolt of Leola, who has a physical disability and uses his mouth in painting oil paintings on a variety of subjects; John Walls, a painter; Crystal Dull, who will be displaying watercolors; and Gabriella Carlucci, who will be displaying her drawings.

Admission is free. The non-profit Eicher Arts Center is hosting the show as part of its series of cultural events at the historic Eicher House, and on the first night of the show will be providing refreshments. Donations to the center will be accepted, and visitors may arrange to purchase the from the artists individual works of art.
