Liederkranz hosts annual Christkindlmarkt

By on November 26, 2019

The Lancaster Liederkranz, 722 S. Chiques Road, Manheim, will host its annual Christkindlmarkt in its pavilion on Sunday, Dec. 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain, snow, or shine.

Towns and cities throughout Germany and Austria mark the start of Advent with the opening of the public Christmas Markets. Although originally meant to bring craftsmen and artisans together to sell their wares to townspeople, modern versions are more festive destinations featuring a wide variety of products and, most importantly, the wonderful seasonal food and drink to be consumed by shoppers while browsing through stalls of handmade gifts and decorations.

As in these traditional German markets, the Liederkranz Christkindlmarkt will feature more than 40 vendors selling their wares, traditional food and drink, and cultural entertainment. Indoor dining will also be available in the Clubhouse. There will be activities and crafts for children, including a chance for a visit and photo with Santa.

Admission is free, and this is a cash-only event. Visit lancasterliederkranz.com to learn more.

Entertainment at Christkindlmarkt will be provided by the Alpenrose Schuhplattlers, the Alleweil Jung German folk dancers, Liederkranz chorus and Hobby Chor, and Alpenrose Kindergruppe.
