Local women’s chorus seeking new members

By on October 7, 2015

Lititz’s Red Rose City Chorus is seeking new members. Women aged 18+ are encouraged to visit the chorus’ open house rehearsal on Monday, Oct. 12 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market St. Those who attend will be invited to get up and sing along.

The chorus specializes in singing four-part a cappella and barbershop arrangements of classic and popular tunes. The award-winning chorus has a repertoire that ranges from “Over the Rainbow” to “It’s Raining Men.” Their performances are enhanced with choreography and flashy costumes.

Ongoing musical education is a big part of the chorus experience, as is the close, supportive sisterhood they share. At present, the oldest member of the chorus is 90 and still dancing and singing like a champ.  Women from five surrounding counties are members.  All voice parts are needed, especially low alto voices.

There is no cost to attend the open house, where fall-themed treats will be served.  Reading music is also not a necessity. All learning materials are supplied. To RSVP, call Cheryl at 627-1587.

Upcoming performances

A small ensemble from the chorus will be strolling at Chocolate Walk, this Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon. The entire chorus will perform at the Lititz library at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, and at the Have Yourself a Merry Lititz Christmas event on Dec. 5.
