Pennsylvanians and visitors alike are invited to experience a taste of the commonwealth and kick off the 100th Pennsylvania Farm Show with the Blue Ribbon Reception on Friday, Jan. 8.

The reception, set for 6 to 8 p.m. in the PA Preferred Banquet Hall at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg, will feature Pennsylvania produced food and beverages.

“This year’s Blue Ribbon reception will showcase some of the best food made and grown in Pennsylvania for everyone to enjoy as we prepare to celebrate the 100th show,” said Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. “This reception is an opportunity to engage with the farmers, producers, agribusiness representatives, and policymakers to celebrate and discuss the future of agriculture.”

Attendees can enjoy PA Preferred products including beef, pork, chicken, trout, mushrooms, cheese, vegetables, fruit and desserts. Local beverages will include milk, along with adult beverages, such as craft beers, hard ciders, wine, vodka, whiskey and gin. Each station will help guests connect farm and fork, with information about its featured food and profiles of the companies and farmers involved in the production of the food.

The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the nation’s largest indoor agricultural event, featuring 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits, and 300 commercial exhibitors. According to a report issued by the Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau, the 2015 show had an estimated economic impact of $95 million to the south-central Pennsylvania region, supporting more than 18,000 jobs over the course of the week-long event.
