The cast of “Smoke on the Mountain” includes (standing, left to right) Nate Garland, Richard Daniel, Wes Madara, Paul Myers; and (seated, l-r) Katherine Bender, Johanna Baker, and Hillary Bossert-Davis.

Red Accordion Studios will present “Smoke on the Mountain,” book by Connie Ray, conceived by Alan Bailey, with musical arrangements done by Mike Craver and Mark Hardwick, June 14 through 23, in the Grace Church auditorium, 501 W. Lincoln Ave., Lititz.

Red Accordion Studios is a new theatre company, owned by Jen Felty, a native of Lancaster County. They are preparing for their debut show, the plot of which features the Sanders family in a Saturday night sing at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Though they do their best to appear perfect, things go awry and their imperfections show in hilarious fashion. This play with music features many bluegrass gospel hymns, all of which are played by the actors onstage.

“Smoke on the Mountain” was the first professional show that Felty landed as an actress. She went on to perform it in several cities in Tennessee, including Nashville, at the Ryman Auditorium and a special appearance on The Grand Ol’ Opry. Felty later earned membership in the Actors’ Equity Association by landing a spot in the cast at the Barter Theatre in Virginia.

Felty’s history with the show is not just on the stage; it’s also as a director. She’s mounted three productions of the show here in Lancaster County. This will be her fourth production directing, this time in Lititz and with a professional cast, which includes four actors who have done the show before either with Felty or under her direction.

“The show holds a very special place in my heart and when I started my theatre company, it had to be the first show on the schedule,” said Felty. “I’m thrilled to bring more live theatre to the region and to begin in Lititz.”

Ticket prices vary. For specific dates and times of performances, and to purchase tickets, visit or call 717-537-1347.
