ZigsFruitTartZigsFruitTart From fresh fruit tarts topped with red strawberries and blueberries to peanut noodle salad with fresh snow peas and veggies, Zig’s Café has a wonderful selection of summer flavors.

Zig’s is the perfect choice for planning your Fourth of July get-together, summer picnics or outdoor tailgates. Just stop by to get everything you need, like beef brisket or pork BBQ, redskin potato salad, whole grain ryeberry salad with cranberries and citrus, cole slaw, ham salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, applesauce and Asian-inspired sesame almond crunch noodle salad. Get a loaf of bread or their popular soft dinner rolls, and you are all set.

Zig’s Café has freshly made sandwiches too, including the turkey pesto focaccia, curry chicken salad, beef brisket with cole slaw and pastrami on rye with coleslaw, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing. Half the fun is choosing your bread, which includes honey wheat, country white, flax, dark rye focaccia, baguette, croissants, cinnamon raisin breads and sourdough boule.

Don’t forget dessert. Zig’s Bakery has all sorts of pretty little cupcakes, like black raspberry and chocolate peanut butter. Cakes include carrot cake, flourless chocolate cake, lemon cake and the moist Jewish apple cake. There are other desserts such as bread pudding, sticky buns, cream puffs, blueberry pie, tart cherry pie, coconut cream pie, lemon sponge pie, fresh scones, quiche and Moravian sugar cake.ZigsSalads

As Brandon Ziegler of Zig’s notes, most of the fresh produce comes from Lancaster County, including Buckhill Farms in Lititz, where the community supported agricultural markets provides fresh lettuces, beans, berries and more.ZigsSalads

Now that Zig’s Bakery and Café has marked its first anniversary at the beautifully restored barn on East Newport Road, people are flocking to enjoy the warm, relaxed setting with freshly baked breads, cakes and pies, brewed coffee, soups, sandwiches, salads and deli items. Zig’s has a sophisticated look with stone walls accented by sleek wood tables and modern chairs, wood beams, a comfy red leather couch and a stylish oil painting of a cow. There are deli cases on one wall baked goods on the other, with sandwiches, salads and breakfast made to order.

“We have been in business for 10 years and now one year at Brick Gables,” says Brandon.

The Ziegler family and their friendly staff have created a very special spot at Zig’s Bakery and Cafe at Brick Gables. Not only is it a great bakery, deli and café, but it is a beautiful wedding and event venue and catering business.
