Ephrata Makes Administrative Changes

At the board meeting on Monday, April 23, the Ephrata Area School Board of Directors approved a district restructuring for the 2018-2019 school year.

Effective July 1, the current Ephrata Intermediate/Middle School administrative structure will be divided to create two distinct administrative teams &tstr; an Intermediate School Administration with a principal and assistant principal for grades five and six and a Middle School Administration with a principal and assistant principal for grades seven and eight.

Since the start of the 2015-2016 school year, there has been a principal, assistant principal, and associate principal who have jointly managed the operations of both schools. Mr. Kevin Deemer, presently the Intermediate/Middle Principal, will assume the role of Intermediate School Principal. Mr. Russ Garman, currently the Intermediate/Middle Associate Principal, will serve as the Middle School Assistant Principal. Mr. Peter Kishpaugh will be transitioning from his present responsibilities as the Assistant Principal at Ephrata High School to the Principal of Ephrata Middle School. Mr. Gregg Shulenberger, who currently serves as Assistant Principal of the Intermediate/Middle School will be filling a new position, Coordinator of Information Services. Finally, Mrs. Laura Mandell, presently an Ephrata High School Assistant Principal, will be transferring to a different position and serving as a Districtwide Instructional Coach.

“As our mission requires, we are always striving to support all students toward their full potential. Sometimes we need to make changes to the structure of our overall program in order to position these supports in a way that we believe will be more successful to meet the needs of both students and staff,” said Dr. Brian Troop, district superintendent. The restructuring and transfers have generated three vacant positions &tstr; Ephrata Intermediate School Assistant Principal and two Ephrata High School Assistant principals &tstr; which will be filled as soon as possible.
