Ephrata homecoming queen will be crowned Friday

Ephrata High School will crown its 2016 homecoming queen at its football game with Garden Spot. The game starts at 7 p.m. at War Memorial Field. Members of the homecoming court are:

Anna Brubaker is the daughter of Eric and Linda Brubaker. Anna has played field hockey all four years of high school and participated in the powderpuff football game her junior year. Anna is also a member of National Art Society. She attends Middle Creek Church of the Brethren and is an active member in their youth group. For the past three summers, Anna has been a day camp counselor at Woodcrest Retreat. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. After high school, she plans to pursue a degree as an occupational therapist assistant. Anna is escorted by her brother, Justin Brubaker.

Amber Dietrich is the daughter of Scott Dietrich and Wendy Hackman. For the past three years, Amber has served as class president of the Class of 2017. She was a co-chair of the Prom Committee her junior year and is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Student Council, and Link Crew. Outside of school, Amber has been an avid lover of dance since the age of three. She is a member of the Laurel Dance Company and participates in dance classes five days a week. Amber also loves assisting the community with her youth group at Swamp Christian Fellowship. When it comes to favorite pastimes, Amber’s include spending time with friends and family, petting puppies, and exploring new places. After graduation, Amber is hoping to attend a university to study pre-med or public health and continue her dance career. Amber is escorted by senior, Darren Schlemm.

Meredith Fagan is the daughter of Kathleen and Bob Fagan. Meredith has played field hockey for all four years of high school and has been captain for the past two years. She has been a member of Spanish National Honor Society, Prom Committee, Newspaper Club, and the Dodgeball for Diabetes tournaments; she is a current member of the National Honor Society, Leo Club, Mini-THON Club, and the Mounts Buddy Program. In addition to her school activities, Meredith spends her time working at Landis Homes Retirement Home, volunteering as a camp counselor at Camp Lionheart during the summer, and running 5k runs for various fundraisers. In her free time, she takes pleasure in being with her family and friends, going to the movies, going on short runs, and most importantly, eating ice cream. When Meredith finishes her senior year, she is attending Millersville University to continue playing field hockey, and she intends to major in elementary and special education or business. Meredith is escorted by senior, Christopher Hershberger.

Johanna Hoffer is the daughter of Jeff and Jan Hoffer. Johanna has played lacrosse throughout all four years of high school and has been a captain since her sophomore year. She is also a member of the swim team and has played on the powderpuff team. Johanna has been on Student Council since her freshman year and she is serving as president this year. She is a member of the National Honor Society, German National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Link Crew, and she participated in the German exchange this past summer. Outside of school, Johanna attends Witmer Heights Mennonite Church and works as a swim teacher at the Ephrata REC. Johanna spends most of her free time with her dog and her family. After graduation, Johanna plans on going to college to major in elementary special education, with a focus on deaf education. Johanna is escorted by senior, Wyatt Schwanger.

Annie Vogt is the daughter of Ron and Laurie Vogt. For the extent of her high school career, Annie has participated on the volleyball team, serving as captain her junior and senior years. Annie is also a member of the National Honor Society, German National Honor Society, Tri-M Honor Society, Camerata, Link Crew and Leo Club. Outside of school life, Annie enjoys volunteering with her church youth group and singing with the Mennonite Children’s Choir of Lancaster. In her spare time, Annie also enjoys laughing with friends and traveling with her family. After graduation, Annie is looking forward to attending a four-year college majoring in graphic design. Annie is escorted by her twin brother, Ellis Vogt.

Jordan Welsh is the daughter of Laurie and Brian Welsh. Jordan has played on the Ephrata Soccer team since her freshman year and has participated in Penn United Force club soccer. She is a member of Student Council, the National Art Honor Society, and was on the Prom Committee last year. When she is not in school, Jordan works at Kitchen Kettle Village. She also enjoys getting to spend time with her family and friends. After high school, Jordan plans to attend a university to earn her doctorate in physical therapy. Jordan is escorted by senior, Zach Lefever.
