Despite a cool and rainy day, the debut of the Ephrata Food Truck Challenge was a big hit at the American Legion Post 429 this past Saturday. The inaugural fundraising event, which benefited the Ephrata Area Education Foundation and the Ephrata Public Library, featured a wide variety of foods from 11 different trucks.

Folks enjoyed cuisine such as tacos, pork barbecue, Italian sausage, empanadas, flavored lattes, smoothies, gyros and truffle/goat cheese fries. For the sweet tooth, there was ice cream, funnel cake fries and cupcakes. The American Legion provided the use of its ballroom for people to enjoy their food, face painting, games, and music. There was also a $1,000 cash prize at stake, with attendees casting ballots for their favorite trucks at the event. There were also children’s events and special guests mingling with the crowd throughout the day.
