McCormac resigns in Akron; replacement sought
The day after Akron Borough Council’s regular meeting on Monday, March 14, Councilman Dan McCormac sent an email to his fellow council members telling them of his intention to resign from borough council.
The vacancy created by his resignation will be discussed at council’s next committee meeting, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 28, at borough hall. Reached by phone on March 21, Council President John Williamson urged Akron citizens who are interested in filling the vacancy to present themselves to him or other council members.
Council is required to appoint a replacement for McCormac. Although there is a limit as to how long the vacancy can exist before it must be filled, Williamson said he and the rest of the council members would like to take their time in filling the vacant seat.
