Pioneer parade set for Sept. 14
The Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company is about to turn 125 years old and it’s time to celebrate.
One of the highlights of that celebration will be a community parade on Saturday, Sept. 14.
The parade is set to depart from in front of Ephrata High School at 1 p.m., and will travel to West Fulton Street. From West Fulton, it will then go west to West Main Street. Once on West Main, it will travel east to the square in downtown, before turning right onto South State and traveling back to the station.
Ephrata Pioneer President Jim Kiefer said they have “quite a few” fire companies lined up to join them in the parade, which will also feature bagpiper James Freeman, as well as the Ephrata middle and high school bands.
Folllowing the parade, in the spirit of this being a community event, Kiefer said they are inviting everyone back to the station for a celebration with food and drinks.
Also after the parade, a special bell will be dedicated near the marquee.
Check out next week’s Review for a full feature on Pioneer’s 125th anniversary celebration.
