Sound of Music to hit the stage

Ephrata High School’s Theatre Department is presenting Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved classic, The Sound of Music.

On the heels of the historic television production, the EHS Drama department brings the Broadway favorite to Ephrata April 25-26.

Directed and choreographed by Irving Gonzalez in his second year, this show includes students from the intermediate and elementary schools, alongside high school students to create the delightful Von Trapp family. Sing along with the well-known standards “My Favorite Things,” “Sixteen Going ON Seventeen” and “Edelweiss” as this tale of finding love, family and following your conscience unfolds on the Ephrata High School stage. Stage veteran, Senior Hannah Smith, brings Maria Von Trapp to life opposite Sophomore Nic Stauffer as Captain Von Trapp. Singing the iconic “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” is Senior Brittany Cantres as Mother Abbess. Jill Klinger is the music director.

The show will be presented April 25 at 7:30 p.m. and April 26 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Prices are $10 for adults and $7 for students and children and are available by calling the EHS box office at 721-1592 or online at easdpa.org.
