Albert G. Heiser, 88, Akron, Army vet, worked at Armstrong, enjoyed hunting, travel

Albert G. Heiser, 88, of Akron, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at Ephrata Manor.

He was born in Akron to the late Harry and Lydia (Gockley) Heiser; and was the husband of Cora L. (Krall) Heiser, to whom he was married for 60 years.

He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Rothsville, where he was an usher and a key holder. Albert enjoyed hunting and traveling. He worked as a group leader in the Stencil Mix Dept. at Armstrong World Industries for 45 years. He also served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by six children: Gladys A. Wenger of Ephrata; Jane H. Pittman of Ephrata; June G., wife of Thomas D. Stuber Sr., of Denver; Albert Dale Heiser Sr. of Akron; Sandra J., wife of Brian Stokes, of Akron; Russell A., husband of Audra L. (Kelly) Heiser, of Akron; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Harry, Samuel, and John Heiser; seven sisters: Elsie Sweigart, Anna Shaffer, Mary Heiser, Mabel Mertz, Helen Gockley, Lydia G. Auker, and Ruth G. Sensenig.

Services were held March 3 at Salem United Methodist Church, Lititz, with Pastor Karen Bongard officiating. Interment was in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
