Alverta Lena Rollman, 86, garment factory inspector, crossing guard, enjoyed cooking
Alverta Lena Rollman, 86, of Akron, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Fairmount Homes.
She was born on October 16, 1927, in Lititz to the late Clarence O. and Edna Mae Rohrer and was the wife of Robert W. Rollman, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.
Alverta was a member of the Ebenezer Evangelical Congregational Church, Brownstown. She enjoyed painting, doing puzzles, word searches and playing cards. Alverta was a good cook and baker. During her working years, Alverta worked as an inspector in a women’s garment factory. She was also a school crossing guard in Brownstown.
In addition to her husband, Alverta is survived by three sons: Michael J., husband of Fannie Rollman of Ephrata, Ronald L. Rollman of Lancaster, Robert M. Rollman of Akron; two daughters: Diane B., wife of James Brubaker of Ephrata, Debra K. Hess of Hanover; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; three brothers: Richard, husband of Cindy Rohrer of Lititz, Melvin, husband of Sue Rohrer of Lititz, Mervin, husband of Betty Rohrer of Lititz; and two sisters: Janet Griffe of Lititz, Florence, wife of Larry Shimp of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by a grandson; two brothers: Clarence Rohrer and Ray R. Rohrer; and a sister: Edna Ehemann.
Services were held May 8 at Ebenezer Evangelical Congregational Church, Brownstown, with Pastor Keith Miller officiating. Interment was in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alverta’s memory may be made to Ebenezer Evangelical Congregational Church, 23 S. State St., Brownstown, PA 17508, Fairmount Homes Benevolent Fund, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata, PA 17522, or a charity of your choice.
