Alvin S. ‘Hully’ Hollinger, 86, retired roofer, avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed bluegrass music

Alvin S. “Hully” Hollinger, 86, formerly of Stevens, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Pleasant View Retirement Community.

He was born in Lancaster County to the late Arthur and Susan (Snavely) Hollinger, and was the husband of Ella (Knauer) Hollinger, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage on June 16.

Alvin was a member of Mellinger’s Lutheran Church, and was a roofer for Richard E. Sensenig Roofing prior to his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman having made many trips to Canada for 28 years. He especially liked listening to bluegrass and Southern gospel music.

In addition to his wife, Alvin is survived by two brothers: Paul, husband of Eunice Hollinger, of Stevens; James, husband of Mae Hollinger, of Berks County; and 23 nieces and nephews.

Services were held July 5 at Mellinger’s Lutheran Church, Stevens, with Pastor Timothy Craven officiating. Interment took place in the adjoining church cemetery.
