Anna Mary Martin, 101, Bowmansville Mennonite Church member, deacon’s wife
Anna Mary Martin, 101, of Narvon, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, March 4, 2018.
Born in East Earl, on Dec. 29, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan and Mattie (Sensenig) Martin. On Oct. 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to D. Walter Martin with whom she shared 43 years of marriage.
To this union were born nine daughters and one son: Rosene Martin of Ephrata; Rachel, wife of Henry VanZee of Stevens; Anna Mary; Lucy; and Daniel Martin of Narvon; Nancy, wife of Leon Zimmerman of Narvon; Martha, wife of Noah Burkholder of Dundee, N.Y.; Rebecca, wife of Leonard Martin of Memphis, Mo.; Bertha, wife of Elvin Sensenig of Reinholds; and Elsie, wife of Lawrence Zimmerman of Orrstown. Also surviving is a stepson: Edwin Z., husband of Esther Good Martin of Denver; and a stepdaughter-in-law: Alma Martin of New Holland; 29 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren, 38 step-great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Martha Miller, wife of the late Sidney Miller of Illinois; and a brother-in-law: Aaron K, Martin of Ephrata.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a stepson: Paul Z. Martin; a grandson: Christopher Sensenig; two step-granddaughters: Carolyn W. Martin and Mary Jane Bange (Jay); four great-grandchildren; sisters: Lydia Snyder, Emma Stauffer, and Susan Martin; and brothers: Henry, John, and Aaron Martin.
She was a member of the Bowmansville Mennonite Church where she supported her husband in his ministry as a deacon. She was lovingly cared for by her children, Lucy and Daniel, in the house she resided since marriage in Bowmansville.
Services were held at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Narvon, on March 8, with Bishop Leon S. Zimmerman, Bishop Amos G. Martin and ministers John Martin and Marlin Lauver officiating. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.
