Anna Sweigart, active in church, restaurant worker
Anna M. ‘Mary’ (McEllhenney) Sweigart, 92, of Stevens, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 in Stevens.
She was born in Clay Township to the late Clayton and Annie (Zimmerman) Horst and was the wife of Russell Elwood Sweigart, who celebrated 19 years of marriage Sept. 12, 2011.
Mary was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregational Church, Reamstown, where she was active in the kitchen, nursery, as a greeter and delivered service tapes to shut-ins. She enjoyed ironing, pie making, flower gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a homemaker, who also worked part-time at Jake & Leona’s Restaurant, in the Green Dragon Farmer’s Market, for many years.
In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by two daughters: Norma McEllenney, wife of Peter Symuleski, of Moosic; and Norlene, wife of Dennis "Butch" Steinmetz, of Stevens; a stepson: Larry, husband of Ida Rudy Sweigart, of Swartzville; a stepdaughter: Carol, wife of Leslie Fausnacht, of Stevens;; grandchildren: LeAnn Steinmetz Martin and Lisa Zimmerman; great-grandchildren: Randy, James, Kezia and Robert Steinmetz; four step-grandchildren: Jonathan Sweigart, of Denver; Jennifer, wife of Jason McFadden, of Bainbridge; Leslie, husband of Tricia Fausnacht, of Denver; Nicholas Fausnacht, of Royersford; and two step-great- grandchildren: Cayden McFadden and Emma Fausnacht; a brother: Jacob Horst, of Fivepointville; and a sister: Elsie Hovey, of Stevens.
She was preceded in death by her first husband: Emery McEllhenney; brothers: Titus and Reuben Horst; and sisters: Miriam and Eva.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 10 at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Denver, with Pastors Kirk R. Marks and Ray Stark officiating. Interment took place in the Pleasantview Cemetery.
