Benjamin ‘Frank’ F. Herr Jr., 71, Ephrata, New Holland Machine worker, enjoyed deep sea fishing

Benjamin “Frank” F. Herr Jr., 71, of Ephrata, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Maple Farms, after battling cancer for 21 months.

He was born in Coatesville to the late Benjamin and Virginia (Townsley) Herr, and was the husband of Virginia “Ginny” L. (Montgomery) Herr. They were married for 51 years.

He is a graduate of Avondale High School, attended James Street Mennonite Church, enjoyed going to the mountains for hunting and he liked deep sea fishing. Frank worked for New Holland Machine Co. for 33 years, and also at Rohrer Seed and Herr’s Chips.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by four children: Charlotte, wife of Glenn Dussinger, of New Holland; Kim Herr of Lancaster; Sherry Showalter of Ephrata; Douglas, husband of Shannon Herr, of Adamstown; two brothers: James E., husband of Helen Herr, of Bird In Hand; Robert A. Sr., husband of Becky Herr, of New Holland; and six grandchildren: Ryan, Cody, Heather, Amber, Lukas, and Emerson.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the James Street Mennonite Church, 323 W. James St., Lancaster, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Stan Shantz officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
