Betty Jane Barber, 83, Ephrata, Navy journalist during Korean War, Women’s Aglow leader

Betty Jane (Lorditch) Barber, 83, of Ephrata, formerly of Reinholds, entered into rest Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014.

Betty was born in a log cabin in Fritztown.

Betty served as 2nd Class Journalist in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. She was the secretary and member of the Christian Women’s Aglow for 11 years. She attended Penn State University majoring in public relations. She was an amazing woman who spent her life serving her family and The Lord.

She is survived by her five children: Paul J. Barber, of New Holland; Saliann Barber, of Millersville; Lynn (Barber) Wixted, wife of James E. Wixted, Cinnaminson, N.J.; Nanci Lee (Barber) Danielson; Mark Barber of Ephrata; seven grandchildren: Bethany Barber, Matthew and David Danielson, Monica and Aaron Lugo and Brandon and Rachel Wixted; three great-grandchildren: Micala, Acacia, and Kaitlyn; and sisters: Carol Bernie of Indiana; Judy Anderson, and Ruthann Pavlik of Johnstown.

Services were held Nov. 15 at Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, Ephrata. Place of interment was Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata.
