Brian J. ‘Marti’ Marxen, 54, Ephrata, Cloister Restaurant cook, collector, APBA baseball fan

Brian J. “Marti” Marxen, 54, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at his residence.

He was born in Ephrata to Pauline H. Marxen and the late Joseph Michael Staffieri.

Brian worked as a cook for the Retreat of Lancaster County and Cloister Restaurant. He was an avid reader and a dedicated APBA baseball player. Brian was an organized hoarder who collected books, coins, stamps, sports cards, pins, dice, comic books, mugs, banks, and more.

In addition to his mother, Brian is survived by two sisters: Theresa D. Marxen of Ephrata; and Tina L., wife of Mark Russum, of Stevens.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Rodney L. “Tim” Marxen and Gregory L. Marxen.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, from 6 to 7 p.m., at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 N. 9th St., Akron; followed by his memorial service at 7 p.m., with Pastor Timothy Craven officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
