Caroline Henly, Hemmerich worker, ECH Grey Lady
Caroline Mae Henly, 90, formerly of Ephrata and Denver and currently a resident at Ephrata Manor, went to be with her Lord morning of Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 at Ephrata Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Her husband, the late Clarence R. Henly, passed away on May 27, 2007. Born in Reamstown, Caroline was the daughter of the late Harvey and Emma (Lorenz) Adams.
She graduated from East Cocalico Vocational High School in 1940 and worked for Hemmerich Industries, Eugene Miller at his market and Green Dragon stand and in the deli of Triple G Market. Caroline was also a Grey Lady volunteer at Ephrata Community Hospital. A member of Mellingers Lutheran Church in Schoeneck, Caroline was a choir member and caregiver in the nursery. She enjoyed spending time with family, baby-sitting, baking, and singing, especially with her brothers at church.
Caroline is survived by three daughters: Margaret R., wife of Larry J. Weller, of Reading; Martha A., wife of Randall D. Brubaker, of Ephrata; and Marian L, wife of Scott C. Coleman, of Brownstown; seven grandchildren: Todd, husband of Christy; Brian, husband of Stacy; Alicia, Vincent, Andrew, Matthew and Lindsay; two great- grandchildren: Jack and Rebecca; a brother: Warren Adams, of New Hampshire; a sister: Ethel Zimmerman, of Denver; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings: James Adams, Charles Adams, Robert Adams, Naomi Lausch, Lillian Adams and Elizabeth Garner.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 23 at Friends at Mellingers with the Rev. Timothy L. Craven officiating. Place of interment was Mellinger’s Cemetery.
