Chester Bergman, life-longfireman, veteran, collector
Chester "Bergie" Bergman, 81, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Colonial Lodge Personal Care.
He was the husband of the late Sara J. (Steinmetz) Bergman who died June 17, 2009. Born in Ephrata, he was a son of the late Ralph and Mary (Hershey) Bergman.
He was a 1948 graduate of Denver High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany. He retired from Bethlehem Steel-Grace Mines in Morgantown. He was a lifelong member of the Reinholds Fire Company and the Reinholds VFW and also a lifelong member of the American Legion. He was very active as a collector of antiques.
He is survived by two sons: Terry, husband of Sally Bergman, of Reinholds; and Todd A., husband of Theresa Bergman, of Denver; two daughters: Sherry A. Bergman and her companion, James Robertson, of Reinholds, and Luanne A., wife of Mark Horst, of Ephrata; a brother: John H. Bergman, of Denver; and four grandchildren: Jennifer, wife of Marino Mann; Nathan Bergman; MJ Horst and Amanda Horst.
He was predeceased by a sister: Florence Wolf.
Services were held March 31 at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, Wernersville, with his pastor, the Rev. John H. Fry, officiating. Burial took place in Pleasant View Cemetery.
