Clair Martzall, 82, PennDOT worker

Clair H. Martzall, 82, of Denver, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at Reading Hospital.

Born in Denver, he was the son of the late Norman and Sallie (Hirneisen) Martzall and was the husband of Evelyn J. (Texter) Martzall, to whom he shared 61 years of marriage.

Clair was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Denver and was a life member of the Smokestown Fire Co. and the Reinholds VFW. He enjoyed playing cards, cooking at his deer camp and planting in his garden.

Clair worked as a flagman for PennDOT and also as a bartender at the Reamstown Athletic Association and the Reinholds VFW.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Barry L., husband of Debra Martzall of Denver; Thomas C. Martzall of Gassaway, W.Va., and Terry L., husband of Linda Martzall of Birdsboro; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Elam, husband of Fern Martzall, Ephrata, and his sister, Alverta, wife of Earl Scheaffer, Reinholds.

Funeral services were held June 7 with Rev. Joseph A. Veres officiating at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
