Clifford R. Steely, 84, Korea vet, father of five, mechanical engineer, owned welding business

Clifford R. Steely, 84, of Lititz, and formerly of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at United Zion Retirement Community in Lititz.

He was the loving husband of Ruth I. (Good) Steely, and son of the late LeRoy M. Steely and Laura A. (Cooper) Steely.

Clifford was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Mount Joy, and Gideons International. He was a mechanical engineer and the owner and operator of Steely and Sons Welding in Manheim from 1978 to 1994.

Clifford was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and U.S. Army Reserve, and later served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, Ruth; he is survived by four children: Bruce L. Steely, husband of Nancy, of Eagle River, Ark.; Debra Ann, wife of Michael McKinney, of Lancaster; Sharon L., wife of Sheldon Hartman, of Fort Myers, Fla.; and Bryan R. Steely, husband of Jody, of Rothsville; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother: Robert L. Steely of Reamstown.

In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by one daughter: Cassandra Gainer; one brother: Melvin Steely; and one sister: Fern Flory.

Services were held Aug. 2 at Gravenor Home for Funerals, Ephrata, with the Revs. Jerry Berrier and Ethan Levingood officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata.
