Darren J. Callaghan, Cocalico grad, Carnival of Shadows bass player, enjoyed movies, music

Darren J. Callaghan, born April 7, 1990, died suddenly at his home in Tinton Falls, N.J., on the morning of Monday April 10.

Darren was a 2008 Cocalico High School graduate. He was a young man interested in movies and music. He was a bass player in the band Carnival of Shadows. He enjoyed being with his friends and family, but the joy of his life was his 10-month-old daughter, Amelia Jade.

He is survived by his mother and stepdad: Becky and Bruce Miller of Denver; brothers: Shawn Miller; and William Miller, and fiancé, Emily Thomas of Denver; father: John Callaghan; and step mother: Margaret “Peggy” James of Tinton Falls, N.J.; a sister: Shannon (née Callaghan) Bustamante, and her husband, Andy, and their children: PJ, Juliana, and Katherine of Tinton Falls, N.J.; maternal grandmother: Ruth Brendle, Mohnton; paternal grandmother: Janet Callaghan, Jackson, N.J.; grandfather: Howard Miller of Elizabethtown; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Darren was pre-deceased by his grandfathers: Jimmie Brendle, John Callaghan, Colonial Arthur James; and grandmothers: Phyllis Miller and Margaret S. James.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 19, in Gouglersville’s Wyomissing Cemetery at 11 a.m. A memorial reception will be follow at the Gouglersville Fire Company Hall.
