Deaths of Local Interest – July 20, 2016

John “Jack” C. Brooks, 71, of Lancaster, entered into rest July 12 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Jack had retired from the former Pensupreme-Penn Dairies, Lancaster, where he worked for more than 40 years. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1968. His sister, Eva Leisey, lives in Ephrata.

Mary A. Coleman, 90, of Lancaster, formerly of Quarryville, passed away July 11. She was born in Columbia. Her son, John Coleman Jr., husband of Lottie, lives in Ephrata.

I. Harold Long, 88, of East Earl, died July 13 at his home following a brief illness. Harold was employed for more than 40 years at the former New Holland Machine Co., now CNH. He was a member of Lichty Mennonite Church. His wife, Mabel (Hurst) Long, survives. A daughter, Patricia, wife of George Zimmerman, lives in Denver.

Bettie J. McCauley, 84, of Lancaster, passed away July 12 at Conestoga View, where she had been a guest since 2006. Bettie worked at the former Hamilton Watch Co. for several years, and then ran her own cleaning service. She enjoyed gardening, reading, music and theatre. Her sister, Beverly Spece, lives in Denver.
