Deaths of Local Interest – Nov. 2, 2016

Dru Michael Badorf, 35, of Lititz, died in an automobile accident on Oct. 26. Dru owned Michael’s Powder Coating in Kinzer and enjoyed working with his father-in-law. He enjoyed time spent with friends and family, snowboarding, and also attended taxidermy school. He was the loving husband of Carolyn Marie Kennedy Badorf for six years. She is a former resident of Ephrata.

James Michael “Mike” Conroy, 66, of Bradenton, Fla., passed away suddenly Oct. 22. He graduated from McCaskey High School and Stevens Trade School. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his family. His daughter, Yahna (Dave) McFalls, and three grandchildren: Liam, Loghan, and Finn, live in Ephrata.

Melvin M. Martin, 66, of Mifflintown passed away at Oct. 27 at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg. Siblings Arthur M. Martin, Ella M. Martin, and Harlan M. Martin, live in Ephrata. Siblings L. Eugene Martin and Laura M. Fox reside in Denver.

Raymond O. Martin, 77, of East Earl, died Oct. 27 at his home. Raymond was self-employed for 25 years repairing electric motors. He was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference. His wife of 57 years, Verna Z. (Horning) Martin, survives.

John D. Parker, 85, a resident of the Mennonite Home, passed away Oct. 29 at Lancaster General Hospital. John was employed as a tool and die maker and machinist and had worked for RCA, Caterpillar and then retired from DuPont. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster. His daughter, Cathy, wife of Nate Ziesemer, lives in Ephrata.
