Deaths of Local Interest – Sept. 14, 2016

Theresa B. Brown, 86, passed away Sept. 10. Theresa’s family was her passion and she took great pleasure in being a homemaker. Theresa enjoyed gardening, baking and cooking, and most of all spending time with her family. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Lititz. Her daughter, Judy Wells, wife of Josh, lives in Ephrata.

Arthur Nelson Keller, 96, of Lancaster and formerly of Lititz, died Sept. 4 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. In 1965 Arthur retired from Moore Dairy of Lancaster; previously he was employed at the former Walter W. Moyer Company, Ephrata. A U.S. Army veteran, Arthur served in the European Theater during World War II. Arthur was an avid reader and known book collector; and was one of the founding members of the Great Books Club of Lancaster.

Alaina R. McCall, 23, of East Hempfield Township, passed away Sept. 10. She was a graduate of Hempfield High School, Class of 2011 and the American Beauty Academy. She was a very talented artist, enjoying drawings and all aspects of art. Her mother, Stacy Richmond Dickerson, lives in Akron.

Arabel M. (Keim) Palkovic, 84, of Lititz, died peacefully Sept. 7 at Luther Acres, after a brief struggle with cancer. She was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church, Lititz. Arabel loved spending time with her family at the beach and vacationing together on their boat. You could often find Arabel shopping, one of her all-time favorite passions. Her daughter and son-in-law, Beth Ann and Bob Needelman, are teachers in the Ephrata School District.

Lucille M. (Dietrich) Rothermel, 85, of Lititz, died peacefully Sept. 2, at Luther Acres, Lititz. For a time she attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ephrata. Lucille’s life was always centered around her family, and she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed writing, bicycling, and dancing.

Jacob K. Stoltzfus, 88, of New Holland, passed away Sept. 11 at the home of his daughter in Elizabethville. A harness maker, he was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. A son, Gideon L. Stoltzfus, lives in Ephrata.
