Deaths of local interest – Sept. 6, 2017

Scott M. Halstead was a devoted father who loved his family. He passed away Aug. 30 at his home. He took great pride in his trade as a Union tile setter. He enjoyed camping, hunting, NASCAR, and trips to the mountains. A sister, Deborah Sherr, wife of Kenneth, lives in Brownstown. A brother, Mark Halstead, resides in Ephrata.

Helen L. (Heistand) Neuenschwander, 82, of Lititz, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Aug. 31. A homemaker and mother of 10, Helen was a member of White Oak Mennonite Church, Manheim. Her son, William Schuler, lives in Ephrata.

Helen I. Reinford, 79, of Manheim died Sept. 1 in ManorCare Health Services, Lebanon. She retired as a registered nurse from the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was a member of Midway Church of the Brethren, Lebanon, where she was an adult Sunday school teacher for 20 years and a member and soloist in the senior choir. She enjoyed traveling and doing counted cross stitch. A son, D. Mark, husband of Wendy Reinford, resides in Ephrata. Her sister, Sandra McNally, lives in Stevens.
