Doris E. Mease, 77, retired from Brethren Village, enjoyed baking, time with grandkids

Doris E. (Smith) Mease, 77, of Hopeland, passed away Dec. 21, 2016 at Lancashire Hall with her family by her side.

Raised in Akron, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Pearl (Hicks) Smith. Doris was the loving wife of James P. Mease. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July.

She was a 1958 graduate of Ephrata High School. Doris enjoyed sewing and worked at several companies making various items. She retired as a housekeeper from Brethren Village. She loved to bake, go camping, flower gardening, birdwatching and traveling to Florida. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially Alexa whom she and Jim helped to raise.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Jim, are sons: Christopher and Scott Mease; daughter: Michele Willis; granddaughter: Alexa Willis; grandson: Trenten Mease; and a sister: Virginia “Ginny” Kuhn.

She was preceded in death by siblings: George and Robert Smith, and Lois Kline.

A committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 6, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
