Elizabeth Ann (Sola) Brighton, “Betty” or “Betts” to her friends and family, 73, of Akron, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014.

Betty was reunited in death just 10 days after her husband of 53 years, Francis (Fran) Brighton passed away Nov. 29, 2014.

Betty was born in Lancaster in 1941, to the late Olavi (Whitey) and Elizabeth (Lewis) Sola. One of three children, her siblings were: James Sola (deceased); and Michael Sola, Blandon.

Betty was a pioneer as an award-recognized female car salespersons in Berks and Lancaster counties, entering the business as one of the first females in the mid-1970s. She began and ended her career by caring for and encouraging the mentally delayed and challenged in her roles as a teaching assistant and care giver until fully retiring earlier this year. Her family and friends were the center of her world and she will be greatly missed.

A social butterfly, Betty was loved by family and friends and was always ready for a visit, a good conversation and a good sporting event. She was a devoted member of her Roman Catholic faith and was a beloved wife, sister, mother, aunt, and friend to a large extended family.

She is survived by her children: David and Maria (Brighton) Radwanski, Reading; Steven and Michelle (Brighton) Bosch, Wernersville; Jennifer Brighton, Raleigh, N.C.; Michael and Stephanie (Brighton) Girouard, State College; nine grandchildren: Garrett, Danielle, Nicholas, Arielle, Alexandria, Deva, Diana, Tessa and Keegan; and one great-grandchild: Gannon.

A joint memorial Mass for Betty and her husband Fran will be held at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 320 Church Ave., Ephrata, on Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m., with The Rev. Father John McLoughlin, C.SS.R. as celebrant.
