Esta M. Ansel, 83, Reamstown, worked for Kinder, created hand-crafted teddy bears

Esta M. Ansel, 83, Reamstown, died Aug.10, 2014, in Conestoga View, Lancaster.

Born in Denver, a daughter of the late Walter E. and Dorothy I. (Kilhefner) Keffer, her husband, Ralph Vernon Ansel, died May 15, 2012.

A member of Salem Evangelical & Reformed Church, she attended Parkview Mennonite Church, both Reamstown. Esta worked for Kinder, then American Comfort Furniture, Denver. Known as “The Teddy Bear Lady” for her hand-crafted bears, she also loved cooking, baking and collecting recipes and cookbooks.

Surviving is her son: Douglas L. Ansel, Hazleton; daughters: Patricia A., married to John L. Gross, Akron Darla Louise, Lititz; Pamela A. OConnor, Lebanon; and Diana L., married to Brian Jacoby, Eugene, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. from Parkview Mennonite Church, 57 E. Church St., Reamstown, with pastors Matthew Martin, Roger Martin and John Rutt officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring. Viewings will be Aug. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. from Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
