Eugene N. Hufford, 90, WWII vet, Eastern Industry diesel mechanic, huge baseball card collector

Eugene N. Hufford, 90, of Ephrata, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Ephrata Manor.

He was born in Farmersville to the late William H. and Mabel (Getz) Hufford, and was the husband of Louise E. (Lefever) Hufford, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

He was a member of Ebenezer Evangelical Congregational Church.

Eugene was a diesel mechanic for Eastern Industry before retiring in 1988; he was also a member of the Teamsters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 1st Calvary Division 99th AFA in the Philippines and Japan. He was a member of Cocalico Post No. 3376 V.F.W., F.O.P. Lodge No. 66, and Moose Lodge 229. Eugene was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan and gathered a huge baseball card collection.

In addition to his wife, Eugene is survived by a stepson: Roy, husband of Terry Lefever, of Jonestown; a grandson: Nicholas Lefever; a step-granddaughter: Jessica, wife of Richard Rabuck, of Jonestown; two step-great-grandchildren: Reagan and Abigail Rabuck; two stepsisters: Jean Burkholder of Lancaster and June Gamber of Elizabethtown.

He was preceded in death by a son: Eugene N. Hufford Jr.; and a sister: Esther (Hufford) Martin.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in the Mount Zion Cemetery.
