Eugene Zwally, 87, Akron native, owned L.E. Zwally Trucking, enjoyed farming

Eugene Zwally, 87, of Lewisburg, formerly of Akron, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Buffalo Valley Nursing Center, Lewisburg, where he resided for the past two years.

He was born in Akron to the late F. Lester and Florence (Hummer) Zwally and was the husband of Arliss J. (Keith) Zwally.

Eugene was a member of the Akron Church of the Brethren. During his working years, he was part owner of SK Shotzberger Trucking, Lancaster, later owned his own company, L.E. Zwally Trucking of Lititz and after his retirement, he worked for Oliver Sensening Brothers of Reamstown. He loved being with his family, farming, traveling, hunting and being outdoors.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Christine (Tina) Swartz of Milton, Angela Olenick of Henryville; two sons: Scott Zwally of Denver, Ray Zwally of Ephrata; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: Michael G. and Dean A. Zwally; and four sisters.

Services were held Dec. 6 at LCBC Church, Manheim Campus, with Pastor David Martino officiating. Interment was in the Middle Creek Brethren Cemetery, Lititz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eugene’s memory may be made to Evangelical Hospice/Evangelical Community Hospital, 130 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
