Evelyn E. Brown, 90, RCA, Servomation worker, cherished family time, passionate about athletics

Evelyn Elizabeth (Beck) Brown, 90, of Leola, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late Elsie and John Beck. She was the wife of the late Adam J. Brown, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage. Evelyn was preceded in death by her son: Jere Brown.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Kim Brown, wife of Jere; Jim (David Boland); Cindy (Tom Thorpe). She was the grandmother of Matthew Brown (Jenna), Tyler Brown (Kaitlin); and great-grandmother of: Miles, Ella, and Judson.

Evelyn was also preceded in death by her seven siblings.

Evelyn was a graduate of Hempfield High School. She worked for RCA corporation and Servomation at New Holland Machine.

Evelyn had a lifelong passion for athletic competition which began in her teens as a slow pitch softball pitcher, continuing well into her 60s. She excelled in softball, bowling, and volleyball. As an avid Senior Olympic athlete, she earned many medals for various competitive events into her late 80s.

Evelyn cherished spending time with her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at the family mountain retreat in Bradford County. At the family retreat, Evelyn would enjoy outdoor sports, hunting, snowmobiling, and late night poker games. Evelyn was an avid gardener where she spent many hours tending to her flowers. She was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.

Evelyn was married at Zion Lutheran church where she was a life member; where she established many lifetime relationships.

Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church, Leola, on Sept. 19. She was interred in the adjoining Trumbauer Memorial cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Endowment Fund in memory of Evelyn E. Brown, and sent to 18 Quarry Road, Leola, PA 17540.
