Frances T. Lehecka, 82, Akron, active Our Lady of Lourdes parishioner, mother of two

Frances T. “Fran” (Catalano) Lehecka, 82, of Akron, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at Fairmount Homes after a short illness.

She was the loving wife of Richard R. Lehecka, with whom she shared more than 59 years of marriage. Born in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Florence (Grasso) Catalano.

Frances was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes, New Holland, where she participated in many church activities.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two children: Anthony Lehecka, husband of Judy, of Dumont, N.J.; and Theresa Smith, wife of Peter, of Kent, England; two sisters: Josie Trapani of Coram, N.Y.; and Pauline Giarrocco of Broomall; and a granddaughter: Emily Rose, of East Northport, N.Y.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 28 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, New Holland, with Father Walter Guzman officiating. Interment was at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances’ honor may be made to Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601; or Fairmount Homes Retirement Community, 333 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata, PA 17522.
