George N. Zimmerman, 80, grew up in Clay Twp., Indian Creek Mennonite Church member

George N. Zimmerman, 80, of Memphis, Mo., died Oct. 19, 2017 at his home.

He was born the son of Abraham B. and Ada M. Zimmerman on Nov. 1, 1936, in Clay Township, where he lived until moving to Missouri. He married the former Julia Ann Stauffer on May 7, 1959.

George was a member of the Indian Creek Mennonite Church in Memphis, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jonas, Noah, Abram, and Ivan Zimmerman; sister: Frances Zimmerman; two sisters in infancy; a brother-in-law: Amos H. Zimmerman; sisters-in-law: Joanna, Edna, Louella and Marion Zimmerman; a grandson; and four great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of the home; sons: Paul S. Zimmerman and wife Rosetta of Memphis, Mo.; Charles Zimmerman and wife Marilyn of Arbela, Mo.; Edward Zimmerman and wife Janice of Fortuna, Mo.; and George Zimmerman Jr. and wife Faith of Greentop, Mo.; daughters: Susan and husband Edward Burkholder of Ashland, Mo.; Virginia and husband Clair Zimmerman of Cantril, Iowa; Rosanna and husband Alvin Garman of Memphis, Mo.; Rosene and husband Paul Jr. Shirk of Goshen, Ind.; and Emma Mae Zimmerman of Memphis, Mo.; brothers: Paul Zimmerman and wife Lydia of Rutledge, Mo.; Harvey Zimmerman resides with family in Pennsylvania; Levi Zimmerman and wife Leah of Rutledge, Mo.; Enos Zimmerman and wife Irma of Orrstown; David Zimmerman and wife Alta of Fairmount Homes, Ephrata; Titus Zimmerman and wife Geraldine of Oklahoma; sisters; Ada and husband Lloyd Sensenig of Annville; and Anna and husband Marvin Reiff of Lebanon; a foster sister: Carmen Forney of Annville; sister-in-law: Edith Zimmerman of Lebanon; 58 grandchildren; and 78 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held Oct. 24 at Indian Creek Mennonite Church, Scotland County, Mo. Officiating the service were Luke Fox, Daniel Stauffer, Talman Martin, and Neil Burkholder.
